Boating
Boating is a popular pastime in Pennsylvania, a fact that is clearly visible to anyone visiting any of the large lakes during the summer months. Harveys Lake in Luzerne County and Lake Wallenpaupack on the Pike/Wayne County line are usually full of boats, especially on the weekends. The Susquehanna River is also poplular with boaters, both power boats and canoes and kayaks. Floating the upper Susquehanna River is a peaceful way to spend a summer day and you will likely see wildlife that you don't usually see at other times. Blue herons, hawks, Canada geese and Bald Eagles are often seen during floats down the river. The PA Boat Commission maintains launch facilities at most larger lakes and they operate numerous launch ramps along the Susquehanna River.
